Benny Clifford Carter of Hendersonville, NC, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at home in the loving arms of his family. Born July 3, 1927 in Lundale, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Henry and Gladys Carter.

Following his enlistment with the US Marine Corps, Ben made his home in New Bern and Morehead City, NC, as a self-employed electrical contractor for over 50 years. In 2005, he and his wife, Lois Carter, moved to Hendersonville to enjoy the mountains of North Carolina.

Ben is survived by his wife, Lois Carter; daughter, Celeste Carter Kenney and her husband, Roger, of Cary, NC; son, Tim Carter and his wife, Angie, of Louisburg, NC; son, Brian Carter of New Bern, NC; son, Donald Carter and his wife, Lisa, of Newport, NC; and daughter, Dawn Clow of Havelock, NC; stepson, Richard Beacham and wife, Rose, of Laurel, MD; sister, Sue Blankenship of Mann, WV; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eleven nieces and nephews.
