Anna Ballard, 84, of Hendersonville, passed away Friday, September 28, at her home. A native of Ephraim, Utah, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Nelda Dennison Johnson. She received her BA from Brigham Young University and her Masters from Michigan State University. She had been an instructor at Michigan State and a computer programmer for the state of South Carolina. She had lived in Utah, Washington, DC, Delaware, South Carolina and North Carolina. Mrs. Ballard enjoyed quilting, oil painting and was an avid reader. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Ballard; two daughters, Lisa Merrill and her husband Craig of Nipomo, CA and Amy Ballard and her partner Leann Ukena of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Cooper Merrill, Abby Lambert and Tanner Merrill; sister, Sharon St. Clair of Layton, UT and brother, Gordon Johnson of Roy, UT.
A funeral will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 5, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2005 Brevard Rd. Hendersonville. Bishop Adam Carey will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive guests for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Anna was one of the sweetest and kindest ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She and I used to meet for frozen yogurt and chat about our lives and about the LDS church. She had a strong will and determination about her which I admired very much. She will be greatly missed.
