Alvin Gaines Chason, 93, of Hendersonville passed away on Saturday August 15, 2020 after a brief time at Pardee Hospital. He was born to the late Roy and Ellie Lou Chason, and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Foster and Jack Chason.
Alvin grew up in Haywood County and had lived in Henderson County following his retirement for the last 30 years. He was a graduate of Bethel High School in Canton, NC. He completed a four-year degree in Agriculture from NC State University in 1949. He was of the Baptist faith, and retired as General Manager in 1992 from Byrum Seed Company in Fletcher, NC after 26 years of employment. Alvin loved to camp and enjoyed traveling around the country with Betty, his wife of 59 years. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Henderson County and was an active member of the Fletcher Optimist Club for many years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Chason; sons, Stewart Chason (Jennifer) and Robert Chason (Maureen); grandson, Tucker Chason (Allison); and many nieces and nephews. Alvin had a unique sense of humor and loved to laugh. His slight smile was so endearing. He made the world a better place, and will be missed by many.
A private internment ceremony will be held at a date yet to be determined.
