Virginia Ruth Jones

January 24, 1925 - January 29, 2021

Just as the winter sun was beginning to set and most people were
ending their workweek on Friday, January 29th, 2021 Virginia
Ruth Evans Hyder Jones departed her earthly home of 96 years and
entered her eternal heavenly home.

Ruth made an impact on all who met her. She was not only a
significant influencer but an encourager, a role-model an
inspiration, especially to her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Her nephews and nieces considered her a
second mother. Ruth’s cup was always running over to help and
provide for others. Even in her later years, she would make sure
when visitors came she would have “Chicken” and other delicious
food available. Coffee was always ready.

“Granny” as most people knew her was born January, 24th 1925
to the late John and Maude Reeves Evans of the Cove Creek
Community of Haywood County. “Granny” graduated from
Waynesville High School and met her first husband Horace while
he was in a CC Camp in the Cataloochee Valley. They made their
home in the Dana Community of Henderson County which was
Horace’s home place. At Horace’s death in 1969 they had been
blessed with two daughters. Linda Dale and Dicie Jeanette. They
had begun their life as being wonderful grandparents as well.

In addition to Ruth’s first husband Horace of 23 years, Ruth
was also preceded in death by her second husband, Dewitt Jones,
of 30 years. Her beloved daughter Linda Hyder Beddingfield, two
sisters; Clara Bell Evans Palmer and Willa Mae Evans Scow, two
brothers Ralph and Frank Evans, and a grandson Jimmy Dean Cole.
Ruth spent her work career as a seamstress at Kellwood Textile
Mill in Fletcher. She was of the Baptist Faith and a faithful member
of Dana Baptist Church as long as she was physically able to attend.

Surviving to live out the beautiful legacy she left behind are
her daughter Dicie Cole, her son-in-law, Jimmy Beddingfield, her
grandchildren; Kim Roberts, Shane Beddingfield (Lisa), Chris
Cole (Holly), Coby Beddingfield (Melody), Barry Beddingfield
(April) all of Hendersonville. Her beloved great-grandchildren;
Clay Cole (Hannah), Austin Beddingfield, Tyler Cole (Megan),
Austin Fisher (Darden), Chase Beddingfield, Kaitryn Beddingfield,
Sarah Roberts, Riley Beddingfield, and Cooper Beddingfield. Her
nephews Nolan Palmer (Gina), Kevin Scow (Angela), niece Pam
Coutu (Kenny) and their families. She is also survived by best
friend of sixty-one years who she loved dearly, Lois Bishop of
Dana, NC, and many other beloved family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her
wonderful caregiver that we have all come to know and love,
Denise Riley.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Dana Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted. Memorials may be made to Henderson
County Council on Aging for the Meals on Wheels program that
“Granny” enjoyed for many years at www.coahc.org or mail to 105
King Creek Blvd Hendersonville, NC 28792.

The care of Ruth “Granny” Jones has been entrusted with Shuler
Funeral Home. An online memorial register is available at
