John Paul Hudon, 80, of Hendersonville, NC, and formerly of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the VA Medical Center Hospice in Asheville, NC. He was born in Mount Clements, MI to the late Henry and Pauline (Ainsworth) Hudon. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Normand Hudon. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Aerospace Engineering from Stetson University and was employed with Bentrix Corporation and Pinellas County Transit System. John was a rocket test engineer at Cape Canaveral on the Gemini and Apollo Rockets. His hobbies included; rockets, astronomy, and space exploration. He was a member of the Elmer O. Smith Masonic Lodge for 52 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lou (Compton) Hudon; son, Mark Burton and his wife Colleen of Cambridge, NY; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Hudon of Pace, FL; niece, Donna Cory and husband Richard of Wake Forest, NC; Nephews, Richard Hudon of Pensacola, FL, and John Michael Hudon and wife Leann of Auburn, AL; 12 grand nieces and nephews, and 4 great grandnieces.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Black Mountain Veterans Cemetery and a Memorial service will be held at a later date in Auburn, AL.
