W. Donald Fattig, 80, of Hendersonville died on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his residence following a period of declining health. A native of Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Helen McNeil Fattig. Don was also preceded in death by his sister, Anne Barbieri. He lived most of his adult life in Birmingham, AL prior to retiring to Hendersonville.

Don was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict Era. He received his PhD from Emory University and was a biology professor at Southwestern College (Rhodes College) in Memphis, TN and at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; sons, Karl and Kurt Fattig; nephews, Christopher Barbieri, Marcus and Keith Lewis and niece, Barbara Lewis.
