Thurman Justice Cairnes, 65, a native and lifelong resident of Mills River, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Sunday, August 16, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Justice Cairnes, his mother, Lilly Mae Patterson, and brothers, Clarence E. and David.

He was employed by Cairnes Electric for 17 years as an electrician until he opened his own business, ìThurman Electric,î in May of 1981 and served the North and South Carolina areas until the present. Thurman was a faithful member of Naples Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching classic Westerns and spending time with his family and his dog.

Thurman is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sadie Patterson Cairnes; their four children, Julie Guthrie and husband, Russell; Tammy McDonald and husband, Chad; Tonya Cairnes; and Thurman Justice Cairnes II (TJ)and wife, Jennifer; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his beloved dog and ìgirlfriend,î Tootsie.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Naples Baptist Church with the Pastor Richard Merck officiating. The burial will follow in Sitton-Gillespie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30am to noon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Naples Baptist Church Roof and Building Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 296, Naples, NC 28760.
