Robert J. Meyer, 86, of Hendersonville passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Elizabeth House.
He was a native of Woodstock, IL and a resident of Henderson County for 36 years. Robert was a son of the late Joe and Lillian Meyer and was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Meyer.

He served in the U.S Army in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. Robert was a foremen and rose horticulturalist at Woodstock Roses and Carolina Roses, a job that he loved and was proud of and to which he devoted his life. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed tinkering with motorcycles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vicki Meyer of Hendersonville; daughters, Wanda Aberle of Peoria, IL, Mary Meyer-Rochon and her husband Steve of Antioch, IL, and Theresa Street and her husband David of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Brianna Aberle, Christopher Voss and his wife Susan, Andrew Rochon and Mina, Samuel Rochon, Kayla Street and Steven Street; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ian and Laylah; sisters, Dolly Rhodes and Betty Schroeder; sisters-in-law, Nina Soltwedel and Kathy Legris and her husband Michael; brother-in-law, Robert Soltwedel and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home.
Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
