Richard Lewis Stafford

Richard Lewis Stafford, 88, of Hendersonville transitioned home on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation after a long illness. He was the son of the late Hazel Lewis and Linn T. Stafford. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Stafford and his first wife, Bonnie Stafford.
Dick graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science in Labor and Economics and Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War as Lieutenant on the USS Cushing. Dick was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hendersonville where he was involved with all roles within the church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Harriet Stafford; two daughters, Anne Petkus (Al) of IL and Margery Bucher (Paul) of NJ; two sons, Bill Stafford (Robin) of IN, George Stafford of NC; step-daughter, Sherry Karas (Joe) of NJ; four grandchildren, Tara, Drew and Amberly Petkus and Katie Stafford; two step-grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda Karas; and a brother, David Stafford (Jean) of NY, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
