Norma Blythe Murphy, 83, of Hendersonville passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Spring Arbor East. She was the daughter of the late Christopher E. “Kit” and Vera Francis Blythe.
Norma attended Blanton’s Business College of Asheville and was employed by General Electric before working for over 40 years alongside her husband to run their own business, G.L. Murphy Building Contractors. She was also an accomplished gardener and loved to cook. She read and collected many books. Norma believed that life was about learning and passing on that knowledge and once she mastered one thing, she went on to the next.
Norma leaves behind her beloved husband, G.L. Murphy of Hendersonville, NC; daughter, Judy Brittain; sons, Glen Murphy and David Murphy and wife, Sheila, all of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Rebecca Heatherly and husband, Chad, and Lindsay Hyder; and four great grandchildren, Savannah and Haley Heatherly, Madi McCall, and Jaxson Hyder.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
The family would like memorial contributions to be made to The North Carolina Arboretum Society
