Marvin Ballard, 81, of Zirconia passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 11, 2017.  He was a son of the late Lloyd Franklin and Georgia Thompson Ballard.  He was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Mr. Ballard was born in Tuxedo and Baptized at the age of 9 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.  He served in the US Navy during Vietnam and retired after 20 years of service.  He loved to play the banjo and sing.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Martha Jane Kilpatrick; five sons, Norman, Delyn (Leila), Timothy, Allen and Ian Ballard; two daughters, Teresa Ward (Gary) and Sharon Ballard; three grandchildren, Rachelle Moore (Keegan), Mason and Baylee Ballard; one sister, Lula Mae Taylor (Stanley); one brother, Charles Ballard; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Beddingfield officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:30pm.
