BROOKES, LINDA “Grace Melinda Shuster,” of Hendersonville, NC, born July 19, 1936, passed away March 7, 2017 at the Carolina Village Medical Center.

Linda was the daughter of John and Stella Shuster. A longtime resident of Henderson County, Linda resided in Carolina Village, Hendersonville, NC.
Linda attended Ohio University, a member of Phi Mu Sorority, later graduating from the University of Cincinnati. Linda had a long and successful career in Education, finishing her career at Edneyville High School in Henderson County.

Linda was married to William B. N. Brookes who preceded her in death. Linda is survived by her son, John D. Link and wife, Mary, of Browns Summit, NC; her sister, Sunny Law of Largo, FL; nieces, Susan Kahlert and Melinda Law; grandsons, John F. Link and Joseph R. Link; great-nephews, Mitchell Kahlert, Parker Kahlert, Brookes Kahlert, and great-nieces, Macy Rapp and Megan Rapp. The family is particularly grateful to Linda’s dear friend, Charlotte Overbaugh, a wonderful friend and great companion on many trips. Many thanks to all the Bitches, a fun loving and philanthropic local group of treasured friends.

Linda was very active in the Hendersonville Community Theater for many years and in many capacities. Linda was the consummate volunteer, a part of countless activities, in addition to being an avid bridge player.
There will be a Celebration of Linda’s Life at Carolina Village on Saturday March 25, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the Village Hall

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hendersonville Community Theater, P.O. Box 66, Hendersonville, NC 28793 – in care of the Linda Brookes Memorial.
