Carolyn Bailey Evans, 71, of Hendersonville, NC, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, February 6, at her home with her family by her side. A native of Union, SC, she grew up in Atlanta, Ga. She was the daughter of Geraldine Sprouse Bailey of Atlanta and the late William C. Bailey, Sr.

A graduate of Erskine College, she majored in Elementary Education and Psychology. She taught for several years until raising a family became her priority. A resident of Henderson County since 1980, she was an active member of Pinecrest Presbyterian Church, serving in the church women’s circles and working alongside her husband in the ministry of the church. She was an accomplished pianist who served her church in a musical capacity. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Carolyn was a devoted and unselfish wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and friend. She loved greatly and was greatly loved.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 46 years, Rev. Charles B. Evans; two daughters, Holly Evans Moore and her husband Blake of Greenville, SC and Christy Evans Whitehurst and her husband Michael of East Flat Rock, NC; three grandchildren, Ben, Bailey and Bryson Whitehurst; her brother, William C. Bailey, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Suwanee, GA; a nephew, Brian Bailey and niece, Ashley Bailey.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Pinecrest Presbyterian Church. Rev. Rhett Carson will officiate. The family will receive guests following the service in the church fellowship hall. Committal service will be private.
