Betty Champion, 86, of Etowah, passed away Tuesday, April 12, at Spring Arbor of Hendersonville. A native of Chicago, IL, she was educated as a pharmacist and worked in that capacity for over 20 years. Upon her retirement to North Carolina, Betty embarked on a second career as a real estate agent. She was joint owner of Accent Home and Rentals in Hendersonville. She was a member of Etowah United Methodist Church. Her husband, William “Doc” Champion died in 1986. Betty served as a strong role model and inspiration to her daughters and granddaughters through her dedication to hard work, lifelong learning and spirit of volunteerism. She had volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Park Ridge Hospital and participated on multiple committees at her church over the years. Betty is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Ondrovic and her husband Rick of Hendersonville and JoAnn Kolar and her husband Don Finegold of Carmichael, CA and two granddaughters, Kate and Hannah Finegold. A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, July 24, at Etowah United Methodist Church. Dr. David A. Cook, Jr. will officiate.
