Austin James Rodriguez, 18, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
Born in Henderson County, he was the son of Tammy Lynn Borgens and Christopher M. Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cynthia Russell; great-aunt, Linda Volpe; grandfathers, Bernard Pragle and Nathan Borgens; and great-uncles, Bobby, Richard, and Michael Borgens and Louis Volpe.
Austin attended North Henderson High and Polk County High before graduating from Chesnee High School this year. He was involved in JROTC and started volunteering with the Edneyville, Mill Spring, and Chesnee fire departments at the age of 16. He loved to help people and had the biggest heart. He worked for the NCDOT on the bridge crew and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Tammy Lynn Borgens (Michael Long) of Fletcher; father, Chris Rodriguez (Bethany) of Chesnee, SC; the love of his life, Megan Ward; sister, Kali Rodriguez (Taysen Russell) of Mill Spring; step-brother, Micah Sullivan; niece, Camryn Russell; grandmother, Linda Kollar; grandparents, Michael and Susan Rodriguez; grandfather, Benny Russell; great-grandparents, Rosemarie and Tony Rodriguez, George and Helen Heide, Janis Russell, and Beatrice Pragle; aunts and uncles, Jenielle Parce (Logan), Richelle Norman, Michael “Mickey” Rodriguez (Stephanie), Hunter Rodriguez, Jeffrey Russell, and Christine Ellis; and numerous cousins, friends, and other family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Monday, October 9 at Moore’s Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverends Deb Demorest and Danny Pridmore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
