Admiral “Dewey” Williams passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Elizabeth House. He was born on November 13, 1932 in Sevier County, Tennessee and was a son of the late John Dewey Williams and Nancy Gregory Williams. He was raised from his early teenage years in Henderson County and was a resident of Fletcher for most of his adult life.
Dewey attended Hendersonville High School, where he excelled in sports. His favorite was always baseball. He was employed for a time at Berkley Mills, drove a school bus for Fletcher School for a number of years and retired form ABF truck lines following 30 years of service. Dewey proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the Hendersonville Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Bertie M. Williams; one son, Joe and his wife Mary Williams; grandchildren, Bron Fahey, Ben Fahey, and Lyndsey Lewis and her husband Alex; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Doyle Williams and Frank Williams and his wife Debbie; sister, Delma Wood of Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Academy at Mud Creek Baptist Church.
A memorial Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Hendersonville Seventh Day Adventist Church.
